Artificial intelligence, abbreviated A.I, is an artificially created construct that exhibits intelligence similar to a sentient being, capable of becoming self-conscious. A.I.s are known to have been used by the Judgers and later by humanity to a great extent. They are, at least in part, able to use synthetic bodies, and are used to perform roles including, but not limited to, facility maintenance, tactical advice-giving, piloting ships and facility defense.
Many A.I.s have been used by N.O.V.A. for such purposes - they even have a Marine Special Ops A.I. group with varying levels of A.I., and have been using A.I.s since the early 2100's at least.
